In Lightroom, the exposure was increased to show more detail in the landscape. An under exposed landscape is a typical symptom of shooting on a bright day. Shooting in RAW allows for pulling out the details and color. With some selective color adjustments, the scene is enhanced with more brilliant blues and greens. The rocks and clouds were increased in brightness and clarity. I like the triangle your eye follows from the rocks to Champi (dog). Finally, I corrected the horizon line and added a vignette to draw your eye inward.

In Lightroom, by selectively adjusting exposure, it recovered highlights and brightened up the dark areas. Then, I adjusted the saturation and contrast to make the cliffside more defined to increase the visual impact. The paint brush was used to selectively add color and contrast to the waves and along the horizon. This assisted in light and color balance for the overall composition.

In Lightroom, the temperature was increased to warm the bird’s underbelly. The sea needed some internal contrast in the waves for clarity and also was overall exposed down to make a clear distinction from the sky. Some simple cloning was done to clean areas that had dust on the lens…oops, gotta keep the equipment clean!!

In Lightroom, by selectively adjusted exposure , it recovered highlights and brightened up the dark areas. Then, I adjusted the saturation and contrast to intensify the visual impact. Some specific areas in the foreground needed to be painted with more light. Cool/warm Gradient ramps were used to intensify the color contrast across the image.

When capturing this shot, the camera was in matrix metering mode and in auto white balance. Normally, these settings would be great for general shooting, but in this case, it caused the camera to overexpose the shot and give an unwanted cool effect. To adjust this in Lightroom, the exposure was reduced and the white balance temperature was increased in warmth. The yellow/orange saturation was increased to make the fur color pop. The cloning brush was used to removed some of the distracting footprints on the left side of the image. I felt the other footprints were ok, considering Champi needed a way to get there in the first place… Finally, a little crop and soft vignetting to better balance the composition.

In Lightroom, the exposure was reduced and white balance increased in warmth. The greens and yellows were saturated. Next, by using the gradients and brush tool, light was painted on the center hillside to simulate light shining through a cloud shadow. This technique assists in focusing your eye on the deer grazing in the center of the image.

This image came out of the camera underexposed. In this case, it is not a bad situation because it was processed in RAW format. The exposure is acceptable because I know that all the detail in the water and sky will remain at fairly high fidelity when I begin photo editing. More or less this means I can enhance the detail dramatically and still maintain the original rich details.
In Lightroom, the contrast and color saturation were increased to add a more dramatic feel. White balance temperature increased in warmth to assist with the experience, and it helps with the flesh tones too. Finally, I added a dark gradient from the bottom of the image to draw your eye to the center of the composition.

In Lightroom, all this shot needed was a crop, contrast and saturation adjustment. Some sharpening was added to make the shallow focus range really pop!

In Lightroom, I adjusted the white balance warmer and increased the saturation in orange/yellow. Using the clone and heal tool, I removed the distracting blade of grass that is in from of her face. Finally, I painted a little bit of light on the right side of the face to pull it forward.
